Siramural
Setting the Scene
As part of a study abroad program through Montana State University and the MADE Academy in Siracusa, Sicily, Kate contributed to the creation of Siramural—a 50-meter-long community mural for the local fútbol team, Siracusa Calcio 1924. Developed through interdisciplinary storytelling, the mural draws on the rich cultural, historical, and social landscape of the region.
The Culture
This project aimed to create public art that honors the nearly 100-year-old stadium and reflects the heart of the community.
Existing textures of the aged wall were part of the visual storytelling,
Painted entirely in the team’s signature blue and white, the mural features symbolic elements to the community. Kate’s contribution included a stylized soccer ball rendered in multiple shades of blue, designed with a wavy, flowing form to evoke the surrounding sea and coastal identity of Siracusa.
